| Dr. Jill Manning [read more about...] | The Uncensored Truth about Pornography: Empowering Principles for Combating Pornography’s Influence OVERVIEW: One of the most difficult effects of pornography to combat is the host of lies and fraudulent messages it promotes and sells. This presentation will identify some of the most damaging lies pornography instills in consumers and outline the corresponding truths that can help parents, leaders, consumers and spouses be more effective and confident as they respond to this issue. |
| Dan Gray, LCSW [read more about...] | The Humble Warrior Heart: A Necessary Attitude in Overcoming and Preventing the Use of Pornography OVERVIEW: Long lasting recovery from pornography and sex addiction requires a humble, submissive heart coupled with a warrior's commitment to do what is necessary to heal. This session is also for spouses, family members, church leaders and anyone who is engaged in this battle. |
| Dr. M. Deborah Corley [read more about...] | How to Teach Healthy Sexuality in the Home as a Way to Prevent Pornography Problems OVERVIEW: Filters and monitoring programs can only go so far in protecting youth from pornography. A more effective and enduring approach involves teaching healthy sexuality in the home. This presentation will help parents understand how teaching healthy sexuality can help prevent pornography problems, as well as offer participants practical suggestions for effective, age-appropriate teaching. |
| Dr. Jason S. Carroll [read more about...] | Generation XXX: Pornography Acceptance and Use Among Emerging Adults OVERVIEW: This session will discuss research studies on pornography patterns among emerging adults (ages 18 to 25). In particular, findings from the first national study to examine pornography use and acceptance among young adults will be presented. | Geoff Steurer, MS, LMFT [read more about...] | Stronger Together: Strengthening Recovery Through Strengthening Marriage OVERVIEW: One of the most troubling consequences resulting from an addiction to pornography is the breakdown of marriage. Partners of addicts often experience symptoms associated with posttraumatic stress disorder from the shock of betrayal which subsequently puts each member of the couple in a world of isolation, fear, and disconnection. In this workshop, Geoff Steurer will demonstrate how couples can de-escalate the intense conflict and disconnection common to couples in early recovery. He will also present ways that couples can use the improved strength of their marriages to reduce relapse and deepen marital intimacy. |
| Dr. Jeff Robinson [read more about...] | Restoring the Social Context: Helping Children and Teens Avoid Pornography OVERVIEW: The internet and other advances in technology now allow youth easy access to pornography in a context of privacy and secrecy unprecedented in history. This new ability to avoid the social context provided by family, church and others is at the heart of the current flood of pornography use. This presentation will provide parents and leaders of youth with specific, non-technical strategies and techniques for restoring and strengthening their influence in the live of youth in order to help them avoid and overcome the use of pornography and other harmful influences. |
