Spiritual Roots of Attachment, Connection, and the Power of Relationships in Recovery

Spiritual Roots of Attachment, Connection, and the Power of Relationships in Recovery

Dan Gray

This presentation will address the current research and philosophical perspectives regarding attachment and healthy relationships. We will also review commonly used attachment-based therapeutic interventions in the treatment of couples and families. Since many who are in recovery come from a wide range of faith-based backgrounds and beliefs, we will examine the spiritual roots of a variety of religious and philosophical and spiritual perspectives. Because many in recovery are also involved in 12-step programs we will also discuss the implications of a relationship with a “higher power” in the recovery process.
