2019 Salt Lake City UCAP Conference

What You Permit, You Promote

Opening Keynote Speaker:

Dayton Moore

General Manager, Kansas City Royals

You might have seen Dayton Moore in the news. In 2018 he became one of the first professional sports general managers to openly talk to his team and management staff about the harmful effects of pornography. We are excited to have Dayton share his experiences with us on how and
why he took such a powerful stance!

Dayton Moore is in his 13th full season with the Kansas City Royals, being named Senior Vice President/Baseball Operations/General Manager in 2006. In 2015 the Royals bested the New York Mets in five games to win the franchise’s first World Series championship in 30 years.

Moore, a native of Wichita, Kansas, brought an impressive resume to the Royals in 2006. He
had previously worked for the Atlanta Braves organization since 1994, most recently serving as
Assistant General Manager/Baseball Operations since August, 2005. Before joining the Braves,
Moore served as an assistant baseball coach at his alma mater, George Mason University (1990-
94). He received a Bachelor’s degree (1989) and a Master’s degree (1992) from GMU.

Moore and his wife, Marianne, reside in Leawood, Kansas, and have two daughters, Ashley and
Avery, and a son, Robert.

Dayton wants each player that goes through the Royals organization to not only become a better player, but a better person as well. As part of that effort, Dayton invited representatives from Fight the New Drug to the team’s spring training in Arizona to present to players and coaches on the harmful effects of pornography.
